§ 7. Regulations of Recreational Vehicle Facilities.

  • (a)

    The developer shall furnish a sketch of the proposed camper trailer park fifteen (15) days prior to the regular meeting of the planning commission. The layout sketch shall include recreational vehicle spaces, tent spaces if proposed, drive ways, buildings, utilities and recreational areas.

    (b)

    Each recreational vehicle park shall contain a minimum of five (5) acres.

    (c)

    For camps not served by public sanitary sewer or central sewage disposal system, the regulation governing tourist camps, and similar establishments of the Mississippi State Board of Health and/or Mississippi Air and Water pollution Control Commission shall apply.

    (d)

    The park shall afford proper drainage and same shall be approved by the city.

    (e)

    Parks shall be restricted to vehicles that conform to the Mississippi Department of Transportation regulations.

    (f)

    Parks shall be surrounded by an occupied open space or buffer strip fifty (50) feet wide on all sides. The inside twenty (20) feet may be used for a driveway.

    (g)

    Lot sizes:

    Minimum lot area—One thousand six hundred (1,600) square feet.

    Minimum lot width—Thirty (30) feet.

    (h)

    Driveways:

    (1)

    Minimum—Twenty (20) feet two-way traffic; twelve (12) feet one-way traffic.

    (2)

    Maximum grade—Six (6) percent.

    (3)

    Minimum curve radius—Fifty (50) feet.

    (4)

    Surface requirements—Minimum four-inch sub-base with shell or gravel surface. Regular and adequate maintenance required to afford circulation of traffic and suitable surface for travel.

    (5)

    Adequate turn-arounds shall be provided with no dead end streets.

    (i)

    Electrical requirements:

    (1)

    Electrical outlets shall meet the minimum standards of the National Electrical Code.

    (2)

    Washrooms or toilet facilities shall remain lighted at night.

    (3)

    Outdoor lighting is required along pathways to rest rooms at a maximum of one hundred (100) feet apart, not exceeding three (3) feet aboveground and reflected downward, or as may be approved by the building inspector to provide adequate visibility.

    (j)

    Recreational vehicle facilities may contain facilities regularly found in such facilities, i.e. bathhouses, rest rooms, laundry rooms, offices, stores, conference facilities, recreation facilities, marinas, lodging facilities, retirement communities, restaurants, etc., as approved by the city council. One (1) residence is allowed for on site for occupancy by the owner or operator only, for each one hundred (100) spaces or portion thereof.

    (k)

    The planning commission shall have the right to require any other improvements deemed necessary of proper layout and design, or health, safety, convenience and general welfare of the public.
